The Pager

On call firefighters have a pager that they carry around with them as they lead their normal day to day lives. When the call comes in, the pager goes off with a series of tones and the firefighter will act according to the page. For instance, if the call is a medical call, the Milford 808 (Rescue Truck w/ an EMT) will handle the call. But, if it is a fire or car accident we will all go to the Fire House and respond to the call from their.
So my first couple of nights were interesting with the pager. Here is why. I can turn the volume down, as I found out, that this only turns down the talking back and forth, not the tones. So at 3:30 in the morning when the tones went off at full blast.. My wife and twin 4 month old boys really didn't care for that.. and to top it all off, it was a medical call, so I did not have to respond. Since I have to be up at 5 anyway, I couldn't get back to sleep. But I wouldn't have it any other way!
