This weekend I am working at the fire house for pretty much the whole weekend. It started Friday morning (My day off by the way) when a third alarm was struck for a fire in a nursing home two towns away. Turns out that it was a fire in a dryer and was quickly extinguished by the first crew on scene and we were canceled just as we got on scene. However, as I went home and spent the rest of my day with my family and enjoyed my afternoon to be at work at 1700 for the start of my tour.
My tour was originally going to go from 1700 on Friday to 0700 on Sunday morning, however, the relief coming in on Sunday has called out and I will be here until 1700 on Sunday as well. I will have the night off and be back for the day shift on Monday (Holiday MLK day).
Calls so far - zero - Everyone seems to be taking it pretty easy as we are getting a pretty good snow storm out there. I am not complaining as that makes it possible to get a lot of work done around the station. Besides, it is pretty cold out there tonight and I would rather stay indoors if I can.
Pictured above is the rescue truck (yes because it is such a relaxed day (I am avoiding that Q word) all the trucks are spotless and ready to role out in a seconds notice! Now that it is almost 2200 and the building is secure for the night, it is time for me to turn in and hopefully the next alarm I hear is at 0530 when the alarm clock goes off! Have a good night and stay safe out there!
